who we are

We want to be part of the movement that finally brings buildings to life. Opening the door to more sustainable, comfortable and efficient spaces that are better for the people that use them.

From day one, our founders Paul and Mark have been committed to bringing the best real estate data their clients. As a result, Beringar was founded in 2016. When the NHS Property Company was seeking a way to improve the utilisation of a million square metre health portfolio, Paul and Mark undertook a 12 month research project to find the smartest way to create valuable insights. The result is the most advanced all-in-one smart building sensor on the market today.   

In 2018, a patent application was filed for our space productivity methodology and we received our first international order after a successful deployment in 2017. Today we are proud of the HX series sensors which simultaneously collect 15 data points. The data is processed at the edge and analysed using machine learning technology to provide clients with actionable insights they can use to turn their space into clever space, that is more productive, flexible and valuable

Paul qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1992 at Grampian Regional Council and  subsequently worked for Chesterton, Turner & Townsend and Operis. In 2006 he co-founded London-based EBIF LLP and in 2014 Longmorn Project Finance, both specialising in financial modelling, structuring and funding real estate and infrastructure projects. In 2016 he co-founded Beringar with Mark Sorsa-Leslie.

Mark qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1994 working in Aberdeenshire Council and Chesterton. In 2001, he found Open Era Systems, one of the UK’s first online property management systems companies gaining clients including BNP Paribas Real Estate. After eight years in Finland running a VC-backed startup, he returned to form Beringar with Paul. The vision – to take the real estate industry to the next level using the power of IoT.
